International Faceting Challenge 2014
The current International Faceting Challenge competition, which is now under way, is known as IFC2014. The results of this Challenge will be announced and entries as well as trophies will be on display at the 2014 Australian Federation of Lapidary and Allied Crafts Associations' National Gem and Mineral Show which will be held at Gatton, Queensland over the 2014 Easter period from Friday 18th April to Monday 21st April. (This Australian Gem and Mineral Show is held annually and is known as the GEMBOREE).
The next International Faceting Challenge (IFC2014) will be conducted by a committee of the Australian Facetors’ Guild and the schedule was issued in September 2012. Schedules are available from Mr. Peter Stringfellow, phone 07 3205 6866 within Australia or +61+7+3205 6866 for overseas callers. Schedules are also available for downloading from the AFG web site at www.facetorsguild.com.au or from the local overseas coordinator for your region.
Three different designs have been set and entrants are required to cut one of each as specified in the schedule. There are three sections (Section A, Section B, and Section C), with one cut in each. Full details are given in the schedule.
All facetors from anywhere in the world may enter irrespective of whether or not they are members of a faceting guild or club. Membership of the Australian Facetors’ Guild Limited is not a prerequisite for entry. A qualifying standard applies and details of this will be similar to those used in earlier challenges. Everything you need to know will be explained in the schedule
Deadlines - The completed entry form, with the entrant’s qualifications confirmed by the regional co-ordinator and accompanied by the entry fee must reach the Competition Committee in Australia no later than 31st August 2013. When this form has been received, a set of containers which must be used by the entrant to send the actual stones to the Committee will be sent to the entrant along with instructions on packing etc. The deadline for mailing of the actual stones is 1st February 2014.
