Message from the President

Paul Sabolta

After much thought and consideration of the current Covid-19 pandemic the AFG Board has taken the decision that the risks are too great to proceed with the 2020 Muster in September.

With the recent re-emergence of the virus in some Victorian “hot spots’ the risk of outbreaks in other regions along with the logistics of social distancing, travel restrictions, group gatherings and willingness of members to attend has far outweighed the pros to continue.

The Faceting Courses will still continue as the low numbers of participants and tutors allows for protocols to be adequately controlled. John Broadfoot, the co-ordinator of these courses has strongly conveyed all requirements to participants.

Your health and others around you is of the utmost priority. Do not become complacent, take every precaution and if you suspect you have any flu like symptoms, seek medical advice urgently.

Here’s looking forward to a brighter future throughout the remainder of the year and into 2021.

Stay safe everyone

Message from the Secretary Regarding the Annual General Meeting for 2020.

Dear AFG Members,

Please make sure that you read the message from our President, Paul Sabolta; regarding the cancelling of Seminar 2020. This is also on the AFG website.  If you have had accommodation booked for the Seminar 2020 at the Gateway Lifestyle, Casino NSW; then you need to decide whether you want a refund or a credit for 2021. To do this you need to contact the Manager, Tony by ringing direct ASAP as he has other people wanting cabins etc. If you do not cancel you will forfeit your deposit. The contact number is 02 6662 1069. Explain the reason and ask for Tony.

Due to the cancellation of the Seminar, this year the Board has decided we will conduct the AGM by utilizing a bulk email, the website, and Facet Talk.  This meets our yearly requirement to ASIC. The agenda, the voting form, the proxy voting form, and the Special Business items including information about them; will be available to members through the bulk email, the website, and Facet Talk. The cut-off date will be the 4th of September 2020. The results will be collated and distributed by bulk email, the website, and Facet Talk. This is the first time that the AFG has had to conduct an Annual General Meeting in this manner; and the President and the Board encourage members to participate as their response is valued. Our Constitution states that we will need a minimum of thirty responses including proxy votes for the meeting to be valid.

Cheers,

Keiran

Secretary AFG
